2014-2020 Rural Development Programme (RDP) for Marche, sub measure 15.2 action A): support to preserve and enhance forestry genetic resources.
FOREWORD
The project aims at evaluating and investigating excellence single or wood arboreal formations to record them in the Regional Register of the Seed Woods.
Along with the research and the in-depth analysis, the operative part of the measure concerns the seed harvest and nursery growing. The resulting products are donated to the municipal administrations to create public suited and accessible green areas.
The measure main object was to regularly cultivate the forms of genetic excellence in the Region.
Therefore, to tackle it, particular attention was paid on the Monumental Plant Formations (MPF) registered by the National Forestry Corps in the last years. They are trees, often centuries-old ones linked to local stories and legends, rooted far back in the past.
One of these plant stirps’ death would be an inestimable loss in terms of biological value. These plants’ reproduction and to provide municipalities with the relative nursery outcomes allow to preserve biodiversityas well as to raisepublic awareness about the origins, the history and the importance of this genetic heritage.
An in-depth study process on many arboreal formations had been already started and will continue in the future.
The following formations are currently enrolled in the Regional Register of the Seed Woods:
