Commonly known as Sharka, it is the most serious virus disease of stone fruits in terms of production economic loss, as well as its fast spread.
Therefore the Ministry of Agricultural and Forestry Policies has established national measures of compulsory fight against Plum Pox Virus (Ministerial Decree 28/07/2016 as ammended).
The first detected outbreak in the Marche Region dates back to 2001, when the Regional Phytosanitary Service started monitoring it to asses the real impact of the virus on the main fruit farming areas.
